I was perusing Facebook the other day when I came upon a post by a friend of St. Andrew’s—none other than Steve Jacobsen himself. It was a thoughtful essay on a difficult topic written with sensitivity and care. I asked Steve if I could share it here and he generously allowed it. As one of the millions of people who have a loved one with Dementia, this essay addressed some of my questions and fears with clear information. I hope it has the same impact on you as it did on me.
*My Plan for Dementia Care by Steve Jacobsen*
*In my years of ministry, hospice work, and living life, I’ve seen
individuals and families go through all kinds of challenges and heartaches,
including serious illnesses and aging. I’ve witnessed people face these
challenges with love and grace. I’ve also seen some situations create
tension, stress, and suffering that go on for a very long time. *
