How did you hear about us?
Over the past year, since the membership team was formed, our committee often asks visitors to church “how did you hear about us?” The answers we receive might surprise you.
We’re guessing if you look back to when you first visited St. Andrew’s, it was at the invitation of a friend or neighbor. Back in the day, it was common for neighbors to share useful information, such as where the best shops were, which restaurants were tasty, and where families gathered for church services. Even in today’s world, we still believe person to person contact is the best way to share the word about the comfort, joy, and inspiration we receive at our church. You attend here for an important reason, and sharing that reason with friends should feel good. You’ve discovered a source of peace in a chaotic and confusing world, so sharing that with others is a blessing, not a burden. Please keep it up!
What might surprise you is the number of times we hear visitors learn about us online or from social media. We have a faithful few who like, comment and share our social media posts regularly. This handful of people have reached a growing number of people in the community. Each of our events over the past year included folks who heard about us from social media friends. If you have Instagram, Facebook, YouTube or TikTok, would you consider sharing our events with your online friends?
People today make important life choices based on online reviews. They decide which vehicle to purchase, what school to attend, and even where to worship from Google searches and Yelp reviews. We don’t want to miss this opportunity to grow our membership by reaching out online just because it feels a little odd. Five star reviews can make the world of difference for our church. If you love hearing Erin, Tim and Natasha on a Sunday morning, or feel challenged and inspired by Jen‘s sermons, we would love for our online audience to know about that. Posting great reviews that highlight your personal experiences will help us reach a wider community
The membership committee has some big goals for our second year, and these small, but important, actions will make a tremendous difference. People are learning St. Andrew’s has a heart to serve and we are a learning, growing and supportive congregation. Will you help us?
