Fall Events!
Are you looking for things to do this fall? Do you like classical music, science and theology, trick or treating, or cute animals? We have it all here at St. Andrew’s. Every once in a while I have so many announcements to make that I need a whole article to get through them.
This Saturday, September 30th
St. Andrew’s is hosting a workshop from 10am-3pm led by the Rev. Al Gephart titled “God in You, Me, Hummingbirds and Marigolds: Rethinking Christianity Today.” The focus will be how modern understandings of science and nature affect our understanding of God. The workshop is divided into four sections each with a scriptural lead-in: Esther 4:14, Acts 17:28, John 1:5, 9; and Ephesians 3:17-19. Lunch and beverages provided.
Sunday, October 1
On Sunday after worship in adult education we will hear Rev. Gephart again with a class titled ‘The Call of God.” Al writes, “God is still speaking. Are we listening? The divine call comes in many forms. It is often unexpected. Paying attention, contemplation, and meditation are helpful practices to our hearing. Share how you have experienced the lure and call of God in your life?
Saturday, October 7
The Santa Barbara Music Club hosts its first concert at St. Andrew’s starting at 3:00 pm.. Come and hear the amazing Natasha Kislenko and violinist Chavdar Parashkevov. The two have recorded two albums together and have toured around the world. Come see them here at St. Andrew’s free of charge. Bring friends and family.
Sunday, October 8
After worship on October 8th Ivor John will present an adult education class on hydrogen energy. This is a pragmatic complement to Al Gephart’s discussions on science, nature and God.
Sunday, October 8
Come to St. Andrew’s Blessing of the Animals service. At 3 pm between the Sanctuary and the Preschool we will gather with our friends and neighbors to give thanks to God for our animal companions. It promises to be a good time for all.
Tuesday, October 31
Join us in the parking lot as we hand out treats to our neighbors. Dressing up in a costume is strongly encouraged
This brings us to the end of October but there will be more events as we move into the holiday season. I look forward to seeing you on Sundays and more.
Blessings,
Pastor Jen
