For those members of St. Andrew’s who don’t know me, my name is Carol Lefley, newest Elder and Session member. I am the one with the British accent!
I came to Santa Barbara in 1987, when my husband, Andy, started working at Delco Electronics. Thirty-six years, and three daughters later, we are still here.
I work as a Kindergarten Aide at Montecito Union School, a job which I love. I originally worked as a teacher of French in a large London High School. Upon arriving in Santa Barbara, I started working as a substitute teacher, and enjoyed subbing for Larry and Linda Sizer all those years ago!
I grew up attending a tiny but beautiful Church in my village in Essex, which was built in the 1800s, on the edge of a hunting forest which once belonged to King Henry VIII. I still enjoy worshipping there when I am visiting my mother.
When my daughters were young, we first came to St. Andrew’s for Kirk Night. We were invited by my daughter Katie’s best friend, Shannon Thoits. The rest, as one might say, is history. Sunday school, PYF, Easter egg hunt, Christmas Nativity, Triad, Christmas Tea, Sara Circle…..St. Andrew’s has been a wonderful Church family for me since 2003, and I feel truly blessed.
Now, since becoming an Elder and serving on Worship Committee, I realize that I have an opportunity to give something back, and to build upon the newly created Vision Plan and Mission Statement for St. Andrew’s. As we move forward with renewed energy, I ask for your suggestions, thoughts and guidance whilst serving you.
Thank you,
Carol
