Let’s Get Comfortable
This is a story about Joseph (no… not that Joseph). Joseph loved to wear sweatpants and a sweatshirt. In fact, he wore the same pair every day. They were familiar, cozy, and COMFORTABLE. Joseph got so used to wearing these clothes that he did not even notice that they were starting to get a bit worn; so, he continued to wear them every day. Not unexpectedly, his sweatpants and sweatshirt became quite tattered. Joseph needed a plan for new clothes that did not disrupt his life but kept him cozy and comfortable. He decided on a plan to buy a new sweatshirt and a new pair of sweatpants every month. Soon his closet was filled with new “sweats,” and Joseph no longer needed to wear the same outfit every day. His new clothes became familiar, cozy, and COMFORTABLE! The metaphor may be a bit of a stretch, and St. Andrew’s is hardly “tattered.” Yet we may be a bit too familiar, cozy, and comfortable with the status quo. Following the adoption of the Vision, Mission, and Values statements, we need a plan for our actions for the future. This strategic plan is the ongoing work of the 2035 Team and the Session. Although it’s taking a bit longer than anticipated (it is challenging work), committees are busy developing goals and objectives to be achieved over the next five years. The 2035 Team will be gathering the input from the committees, vetting the proposals, coordinating feedback, and eventually presenting a draft strategic plan to the Session for their consideration. If you would like to know more about this work or would like to share some input, talk to any committee chair. We will be blessed with a familiar, cozy, and COMFORTABLE future!
