Carol Lefley here, just wanting to update you about my new role on Session at St Andrew’s! I’m excited to announce that starting in the fall, I will be the new Children’s and Youth Ministries Elder on Session. Julie Sommers will take over as the Elder for Worship, and I will be succeeding Caroline Willsie for CYMT.
I have worked in education for many years, and I became a new grandmother a few months ago, much to my delight! My three daughters grew up at St. Andrew’s, in the days of Sunday School with Alice Aspinall, and also loved PYF.
One day when I was working in my Kindergarten class, a sweet girl came up to me and asked “Mrs Lefley, what does it mean that if we fall, God catches us?” I reassured her, saying “It means that everything is going to be okay, no matter what. God is there to keep us safe.”
As you can imagine, it was a very profound moment for me. Especially when Pastor Jen asked me that very afternoon if I would be willing to serve as Elder for CYMT.
I am so excited to join the CYMT, and hope to be able to contribute my time and efforts to help our children grow in the knowledge and love of God.
