Sunday Worship Service

Dear St. Andrew's Community and Friends:

This week I took time to think about how much has changed for us as individuals and the world in the last 90 days. In the process, I was drawn to the classic passage from Ecclesiastes 3 about how life is a series of cycles ("For everything there is a season...") and the simple teaching of Jesus (Matthew 6: 19-21): instead of being anxious, "Seek ye first the kingdom of God." With these points of reference I created the message dealing with what it means to be "“Waking Up In a Different World.”

Rachel Tobler is the reader this week. We have new music to inspire us from Chris and Erin. Disciple Dog has a story about how he adapts to change. The art work is a combination of a dream image, a Rembrandt etching, some creative photography, and photographs of some farmers in Oklahoma.

We continue to be inspired by the amazing work of the "Feeding Our Neighbors" project as St. Andrews helps feed hundreds of families who have been affected by the pandemic.

We will have another Zoom coffee hour. The adult education session will continue the presentation by Walter Bruggemann on what kind of economic systems reflect God's vision for the human family. Details on both Zoom meetings below.

May we continue to deepen our spiritual lives and commitments in this time of uncertainty and challenge.

On Sunday May 17 we will show the second half of Walter Brueggemann’s lecture from March of 2018 on GOD. MONEY. NEIGHBOR. The Economics of Compassion. Brueggemann calls for a fundamental change in how we read the Bible in light of the importance of the concept of Neighbor in how possible economies function. He is the William Marcellus McPheeters Professor of Old Testament Emeritus at Columbia Theological Seminary and is the world's leading interpreter of the Old Testament.  Please join us at 11 AM in the Zoom Window Room!
