St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church
Sunday Worship Service

Dear St. Andrew's Community and Friends:

In the midst of all the challenges, uncertainty and anxiety in the last several months, one of the extraordinary signs of the kingdom of God blossomed in our midst -- the "Feeding Our Neighbors" initiative.  The worship video this week tells the story of how it began, how it evolved and the impact it had on people in need as well as the many volunteers who made it happen.  It's an inspiring story, and Scott has combined Scripture, interviews, photos, music and facts to convey and preserve it.  As I thought about a title, I considered both "The Feeding of the 8,000" and "Miracle in the Parking Lot."  After you view it, let me know what title you'd give.

This Sunday we will again have a Zoom coffee hour at 10:30 and an adult education class at 11, which will continue to explore our experiences of race.  You'll find the Zoom links below.

The St. Andrew's "Health Advisory Task Force" will be meeting Tuesday to continue assessing what our safe practices should be now and in the event of reopening.

May we be strengthened and inspired by the story we're sharing this weekend.

Steve

News from the PNC –

The PNC is making progress!  We have four candidates who we have identified as interesting and exciting possibilities for St. Andrew’s.  Each applicant comes with their own history and skills which would steer our future in different ways.  It is exciting to imagine our congregation being led by each of these wonderful people.  We continue with interviews by Zoom.  It is an amazing time for us.  Please continue to pray for us as we try to find the best fit for St. Andrew’s now and into the future.

Adult Education...

Sunday, June 21, 11:00 am:  A virtual ADULT EDUCATION

This Sunday we are continuing our Adult Education Class “Waking up White and Finding Myself in the Story of Race" by Debbie Irving. How do we understand our own racism and respond as Americans and as a community of faith to the on-going legacy of racism in our country and community? The discussion is based on a study guide written by the 2016 Co-Moderators of the Presbyterian Church, the Reverends Denise Anderson and Jan Edmiston. The Study Guide can be found by clicking on this study guide link. We will be discussing Session Three of the Study Guide: What Is Racism? The Guide contains readings from the book, so, we encourage you to join us for the class even if you don’t have the book.
